Gulfport High grad achieving acting success
Former South Mississippian Jonathan Aldridge is starting to make a name for himself with such impressive résumé entries as professional baseball player, model and actor.
The 1994 Gulfport High graduate said he has wanted to act, model and play baseball since he was 6 years old. After attending graduate school at Jackson State University, Aldridge played baseball for the Jackson DiamondKats in Mississippi and the Madison Black Wolves in Wisconsin. He has also played for the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings in Texas and Iowa's Sioux City Explorers. He was named the fastest player in the Canadian Baseball League in 2003 while playing for the Saskatoon Legends. Aldridge retired from baseball in 2004 to pursue his acting and modeling careers full-time.
He started in commercials in Mississippi, breaking in with an ad for Edgewater Mall. Thus far, Aldridge is featured in seven commercials, including commercials for Hershey's Swoops and Brewster's Ice Cream. He also plays a special agent in the upcoming film "The Manchurian Candidate" and will be featured in two upcoming episodes of the soap opera, "Passions."
