Steak & Stake event to benefit children

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast will host the 13th annual Steak & Stake Dinner and silent auction on Tuesday, July 27 to raise money for general support of the five clubs in Hancock and Harrison counties.

This year's event is expected to draw more than 500 elected officials, business and community leaders and volunteers and 300 club members, said Lester Mitchell, the club's director of development.

Also at the dinner, club members will perform 10 acts for the attendees. Members from each of the clubs will play the piano, sing, dance and perform with the club's drill team. They worked with Elaine Kulick and Anthony Starcher of the Gulf Coast School of Performing Arts to prepare their pieces for the dinner.

The silent auction and a pre-dinner reception will start the evening. Items donated for the auction include pottery, gift certificates, books, toys and specialty items.
