Federal Assistance Soon Available For Mississippi Storm Victims

Federal assistance is on the way to Mississippi for victims of Hurricane Ivan. On Sept. 16, President Bush declared the Magnolia State a federal disaster area.

For the most part, Mississippi dodged the worst of Hurricane Ivan's fury. There was some damage to businesses and homes, and numerous powerlines were knocked down in the storm. An estimated 140,000 Mississippians are said to be without power.

If your property has suffered damage from Hurricane Ivan, you can register for federal assistance by calling FEMA's toll free number at 1-800-621-3362. Everything from small business loans, rental assistance, even counseling may be availble.
