Financial help for those who couldn't work during Hurricane Ivan

Workers in seven south Mississippi counties - including George, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Perry, Stone and Wayne - who couldn't go to work because of Hurricane Ivan may apply for Disaster Unemployment Assistance, according to the Mississippi Department of Employment Security. Employees may be able to receive unemployment benefits of up to $210 per week. Claims can be filed at any MDES unemployment insurance office located in WIN Job Centers. The deadline is Oct. 15.
