Now you officially have an excuse to test drive a new Volvo...

Paul Moak Volvo on Oct. 9 and 11 will conduct a fund drive for the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMC) Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation.

The retailer is participating in Volvo Drive for Life Days, a weekend-long effort by nearly 300 Volvo retailers in cities nationwide to raise money for their local charities.

Paul Moak Volvo will be raising funds for UMC Candlelighters, an organization that provides both supportive services and financial resources for families of children with cancer who are receiving treatment at Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Paul Moak Volvo is calling on people to visit their facility this weekend and test drive any 2005 model Volvo car. For each test-drive taken, the retailer will donate $10 to UMC Candlelighters.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Also On-site to Raise Funds to Fight Pediatric Cancer

In addition to its local fund raiser, Paul Moak Volvo will be joining Volvo retailers nationwide in holding “Alex’s Lemonade Stands” in honor of Alexandra Scott, a young cancer patient from Philadelphia who gained national attention for her efforts to raise money for pediatric cancer by holding annual lemonade stands. Sadly, Scott passed away on Aug. 1 at age eight, three-fourths of her way toward her goal of raising $1 million to fight cancer.

Volvo retailers nationwide, including the Jackson, Miss. retailer, will be conducting lemonade stands at their facilities to achieve Volvo’s pledge to help the Scott family reach Alex’s $1 million goal. In 2003, Scott was named one of the nation’s top 10 heroes in the Volvo for life Awards, the nation’s largest annual search for and celebration of everyday heroes.

Paul Moak Volvo is located at 980 South State Street, Jackson, MS 39201. For more information contact Jeanne Moak Scarbrough at (601) 360-2110 or or visit
