Link - The National Endowment for the Arts is sponsoring a series of workshops at about 20 military bases to help service members returning from duty chronicle their experiences. Various authors, including Tom Clancy, are leading the workshops which are also open to military spouses.
Each work submitted to the NEA through the program will be placed in a government archive and the best will be published in an anthology.
About 140 people signed up to get writing advice from Tom Clancy, who said in a speech that "a novel is a very long bar story," which sailors know a lot about. So now writing about wartime experiences is just a matter of turning the computer on and doing it.
