Mississippi Coliseum Set to Host Extreme Championships Calf Roping Event

On Tuesday, February 1, ClearChannel will present the Miss 103 Watson Quality Ford Dixie National Challenge produced by XETC. A portion of the proceeds from the one-day event benefits the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. The Batson Hospital is Mississippi's only children's hospital, designed exclusively for the treatment of sick and injured children.

XETC, or extreme elapsed time championships, is a unique and exciting drag racing style calf roping competition that pits two World Class cowboys side by side in the same arena. There is over $55,000 in prize money up for grabs and the last man standing will win a $10,000 bonus.
The main event begins at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 1, and tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Preliminary rounds begin at 10 a.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Mississippi Coliseum box office, on line at or by calling 601-353-0603 or 601-353-5252.

Rodeo superstars like five-time world champion and world record holder Cody Ohl will compete. Other international stars expected to participate include Blair Burk, Stran Smith, Clint Cooper and current world champion Monty Lewis. Competitors from Mississippi include former PRCA World Champion Herbert Theriot of Poplarville and 2004 World Junior Calf Roping Champion Wesley Brunson of Terry.

This nationally televised event will appear on The Outdoor Channel, with hosts Roy “the Super Looper” Cooper, eight-time World Champion; Pam Minnick and Jennifer Smith. Check your local listings for more details.
