Indianola students to soon hear business leaders
Mississippi Scholars business presentations to 8th and 9th graders at Lockard Elementary School, Merritt Middle School, and Pennington Junior High School in Indianola will begin on Feb. 10.
Business leaders will tell students that there really is a connection between one's high school coursework selection and one's future career and income. Students are asked to voluntarily select and complete the Mississippi Scholars Course of Study, a defined set of rigorous courses that will prepare a student for college and the workforce. Twenty-five Mississippi school districts are participating in the Mississippi Scholars program. Mississippi is one of 14 states participating in the national State Scholars Initiative. The Mississippi Scholars Initiative is sponsored in Indianola by the Indianola Chamber of Commerce.
