Mississippians part of Oscar night

Besides Best Supporting Actor Morgan Freeman, two other people with Mississippi ties got their spot in the limelight at the 77th annual Academy Awards recently.

University of Mississippi grad and Natchez-born songwriter Glen Ballard was nominated in the Original Song category for his song Believe, the theme from The Polar Express. Lance Thornton, an Oak Grove native who works for Pixar Animation Studios in California has his name on the credits of The Incredibles, which won Best Animated Feature Film and Best Sound Editing.
